Bos. & Co. WATERPROOF Fall and Winter boots have a membrane that covers the foot and rises to above the ankle. This breathable membrane allows air to circulate but not water to pass through. Zipped product has the added feature of a gusset that covers the bottom of the zipper where it meets the upper to protect against water penetration when puddles find their way into the path. There has also been an addition of a waterproof breathable insole, which further enhances the waterproof properties of our boots.
Product is tested for waterproof using a “DYNAMIC RESISTANCE TO WATER PENETRATION OF THE FULL BOOT” This test involves the full boot immersed in water 2 cm above the welt line of the sole. The boot is then flexed mechanically for a period of 120 MINUTES and checked for water penetration in the interior of the boot. Bos. & Co. boots exceed these requirements and are rated waterproof.
Bos. & Co. boot linings use MERINO WOOL (100% wool) for the full linings and vamp linings and full heel to toe sock linings. This MERINO wool lining for COLD WINTER WEATHER BOOTS is excellent for wicking moisture away from the foot and insulating it against the cold and below zero temperatures.
The added feature of the addition of PRIMALOFT / MERINO WOOL LIINGS on select styles. These materials combined cover the entire foot. This special heat insulator PRIMALOFT is also wrapped around the inside heel counter to further insulate the anti- slip inside heel counter.
Our VELCABE lightweight microfiber Fall lining material for early season also has moisture wicking properties to keep the feet dry and warm.
Testing for the COLD COMFORT RATING is performed in sub-zero temperatures and the cold insulation is measured by the loss of temperature on the interior insole of the boots over a specific period of time. Bos. & Co. product with VELCABE and MERINO WOOL and PRIMALOFT linings have been COLD RATED based on this testing method.
